Phaedra and Gannon

We're now a family of 3

Great nurses

Our awesome labor nurses, Raina and Tien. Raina was with us for 9 of the 16hours of labor. When we new Phaedra's doctor was within 1 hour of arriving to the hospital Raina recruited Tien to come in and close the deal. Tien is a little fireball when it comes to pushing. My job was counting and I found myself sweating and pushing just to count to 10. Once the doctor came in it only took 2 more pushes and Gannon was out.

The two LOVES of my life!

Words do no justice to how awesome it is to see my best friend/wife and sweet baby boy. Phaedra is my hero, 16hrs of labor with 2hrs of pushing to welcome little Gannon Pearce Arellano into this world. 7lbs 6oz and 21" long.

4cm and time for epidural

We checked in at 12 noon and now it's 9pm and Phaedra made it to 4cm with no drugs. Phaedra said whoever invented the epidural deserves the nobel peace prize. Pain went from a 7-8 to a 2. Phaedra's blood pressure is always low (110/60), but with the epidural its 98/48 which doesn't help our little baby too much. Our nurse put Phaedra on oxygen, and injected her with Ephederine. I offered her my Monster Energy, but she declined. Phaedra and I can actually catch a couple winks until she goes from 4cm to 10cm.

trying to make it to 4cm

Phaedra needs to get to 4cm before the epidural. Contractions are about 2 minutes apart and hitting a 7-8 on the pain scale. I'm doing my best to be a duola and providing imagery to get her mind off the labor. Since she's a marathon runner we're going with that type of imagery. I was explaining this to Phaedra and our labor Nurse Raina added some imagery of her own. She said since it was Phaedra's first baby this was like a marathon, but instead of the runner being Phaedra imagine an out of shape smoker at mile 6 with 20 to go. hehe

Great views

Phaedra's all hooked up and has Pitocin on board to make the labor progress. Doctor's don't like to have the baby in the womb more than 24hrs after the water breaks. Contractions are getting a lot stronger. Cant beat the view.

Checking in

After a tongue lashing for not calling the doctor when the water broke last night, we get all set up in the Hoag private birthing room. This place is "swank".

Arriving at Hoag Hospital

Since the baby is coming early, we had to go to Bergrstrom's baby store to get baby supplies and a Cannon vexia HD camcorder on the way to Hoag Hospital. It's about 12 noon on Saturday now... Oh yeah, I requested we stop at Rubio's to eat before we arrived. Phaedra went to Jamba Juice to carb up before the big event.

time to go to the hospital

bus is still under construction and the audi only holds two... looks like the titan is the new baby mobile.

Phaedra's due date is 2/7/09, but her water broke on 1/23/09 Friday night. She was actually in denial that her water broke and kept telling me that she was okay and it was just a little pregnancy incontinence... The next morning at 7am contractions start and are 7 minutes apart.

the wet look

next step color sand and buffing

paint is ON!

blue-white over turquoise. my turkis ppg L-380 looks like a different shade than i was going for, but i'm stoked. it looks more masculine than the standard turkis.

smooth...

dash looks da kine, without the ashtray, heater vents and oh shit bar.

that's straight!!!

this is wayy better than factory. it's going to look killer with paint on it.

looking good in primer

both sides of the bus are looking good. one of my hinges on the cargo doors was bent so they are going to cut a hinge off of my old cargo door and weld it to my new/old door.

straight nose

these guys are doing a nice job on the bus. new front rocker below and maintaining all the highlight lines in down the middle of the bus. if a shop doesn't know VW there will be no highlight. killer

loading up "kermit". i can't believe those studs on overhauling can get this far in one day, sheesh. i've been working on this for 6 months. convertible world is going to do the paint and body work on kermit and return him beautiful.

rear end is all sanded and welded up. even welded the stock pea shooter exhaust scallop for a cleaner look.
